People the world over are always looking for ways to experience a high, whether that be from exciting activities such as maybe a bungee jump, alcohol or drugs. Personally, I can understand the thrill and excitement of something such as a bungee jump but at least, there should be some built-in safety precautions with those type of activities. When you start dabbling in drugs there really are no safe options. This article is neither to condone or criticise merely to increase awareness. The latest popular drug that is spreading in popularity is called “Spice” This is a type of drug know as synthetic cannabinoids.
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, synthetic cannabinoids are defined as “man-made mind-altering chemicals that are either sprayed on dried, shredded plant material so they can be smoked (herbal incense) or sold as liquids to be vaporized and inhaled in e-cigarettes and other devices (liquid incense).”
The biggest issue with this type of drug is that there is no consistency in either the contents or the effect of how your body will react to taking the substance. By taking this drug you are effectively playing Russian roulette with your life. Unfortunately, Connor Reid of Orange Country California was one of the unlucky recipients of Spice. Four days after taking some, his life support machine was switched off. He had only taken a single puff of the drug but it had rendered him brain dead and comatose almost instantly. Please watch the video below and show it to anyone you know who you think might be, or maybe even might know someone that dabbles in taking substances. People are under the misapprehension that because this is man made that it is somehow a safer alternative to taking so-called proper drugs. Connor’s parents are on a mission to spread the word about the harsh realities of taking Spice and making the effort to ensure that his death wasn’t in vain.
