The Ultimate Environmental Fridge – No Electricity Required

A fridge is one of the essential tools in your house. It keeps your food fresh, safe from infection by ants or other small creatures, and your milk cold preventing it from going off.

A fridge is constantly running, consuming electricity and costing you money. So if we were able to design a fridge that kept our food cold and safe, but didn’t use any electricity that would be something special and beneficial both in terms of costs and environmental benefits.

Well, the device of your dreams may have actually been developed. While admittedly not very house friendly and needing to be buried in the back garden the concept has now been proven. With huge amounts of storage and no electricity costs whatsoever, this could well be the fridge of the future. The idea is that you bury the fridge under the soil. The temperature of the soil is then what keeps the food and contents of the fridge cold. Could it be that in the future rather than an electrical store we will be visiting the garden centre to choose our fridge. Have a look at the fridge in the video below and then let us know your feelings in the comments box. It really is a clever idea especially for the more environmentally focused amongst us, the biggest issue being the location and storage requirements.
