I rarely if ever get bitten by mosquito’s whereas my partner is always getting bitten. I refuse to believe that’s because my partner is sweeter than me, but if that was the reason, then I would happily accept it. I don’t fancy being a mosquito’s meal, thanks very much.
But scientifically it transpires that they are reasons why certain people are bitten more than others. First and foremost, it is inevitable that everyone smells just a little bit different. There are different levels of bacteria on everyone’s body, and this is what creates the smell a mosquito responds to. So there is an element of truth as to why a mosquito would pick one person over another. Carbon dioxide is another factor, the more you exhale the bigger your attraction to mosquito’s. So those of us who love to exercise are also more prone to a visit from the mosquito’s.
And of course, it’s important to do all you can to protect yourself from mosquito bites. Apart from the red itchy bites, mosquito’s spread disease. They carry such diseases as dengue fever, zika and malaria. In fact, the humble mosquito is responsible for the deaths of over 1 million people per year. So if you are planning on travelling anywhere it is important to research the different repellents, and maybe even test them out to see if they have any side effects on you prior to travelling. It always pays to be prepared.
