There are plenty of crops we could grow at home, but one of the easiest to grow are potatoes. Not only are they a delicious food, they are quite nutritious and have been the key to the survival of many civilizations. If you are someone that loves a good spud, you will adore how easy it is to grow them at home. In fact, they are so easy to grow, there is no reason NOT to grow them.
One of the easiest ways to grow potatoes at home is using garbage bins. Of course, you would want to start with clean bins, and then you would need to prepare them properly. Drilling holes in the sides of the bins will allow air to get inside and excess water to get out. It is then a process of layering the bins with dirt, compost and potatoes until you get near the top.
After a month, the leaves will begin to flower but 1 week after the vines turn brown and die, it is harvest time. All in all, it takes about 2 months. When it is time for harvest, just tip the bin over and pick up your new, home-grown potatoes.
