With the possible exception of when you are desperate to visit the bathroom, there are few sounds as relaxing as that of running water. I love water fountains, and have always fancied having one either in my home or in the garden, but I always expected them to be either very expensive to buy, or very difficult to install. But I couldn’t have been more wrong, and what’s more, when you follow the instructions for this wonderful project you will have a fantastic fountain, at a very reasonable cost. The most expensive piece of equipment as you might expect will be the pump, but other than that everything else you require is both cheap and easy to obtain.
You will need a collection of terracotta pots and saucers, a water pump and hose, a drill and file, sealants, and whatever decorative touches you enjoy.
Take an extra large terracotta saucer and treat it with waterproof sealant as this will be the base of your fountain. Then use a file to create a space for the power cable to enter the fountain. Get some terracotta pots and saucers, and using a drill make holes in the centre of the largest pot and saucer. This is where the tube for the water supply will go. Now connect the tubing for the water to the pump, and he read the tube through the holes you just made. Then simply arrange the other flowerpots in whatever design you prefer, test and rearrange until you end up with the design and water flow that you are happy with. With a little imagination and some decoration, you can have a beautiful water fountain wherever you want for a relatively small cost. Watch the video below for step by step instructions.
