There is an old saying that says, “When life gives you lemons, you should make lemonade.” As you can tell from that simple statement, lemons certainly do have a bad reputation as being something sour, but there may be a sweet side to them as well. After all, if you are stuck in the woods with nothing more than a lemon, some nails and steel wool, you can start a dandy fire.
As you see in the video, you make a row of zinc nails and copper nails and then cross between the two. It forms a little bit of electricity, and although it may not be enough to power an appliance, it certainly is enough to start a fire if you know how to do it properly.
It is interesting that they choose steel wool, as it has the ability to conduct electricity and it can get extremely hot very quickly as a result. Of course, you would need to have these pieces of equipment with you in the woods if you wanted to use them for survival purposes. Even if you don’t plan on actually starting a fire with lemons, you have to admit it’s pretty cool.
