She Was Abused By Her Boyfriend So She Learned How To Fight With Her Shoe

When we are close to someone, we want to feel as safe as possible but the unfortunate reality for many people is, they are attacked by those individuals. That is what happened to Avital Zeisler when she was only 19 years old. She had a boyfriend who sexually assaulted her and put her into an unbelievably low depression. She wanted to feel empowered again, so she began to study martial arts. Now she is teaching women to defend themselves by fighting back, with their shoes!

“You actually grab the body of the shoe so that the heel is protruding to the side,” she explained. According to statistics, a woman is attacked in the United States every 9 seconds and the statistics are similar worldwide. These women who are attacked don’t need to feel as if they have lost everything, they can learn to defend themselves.

Many women shy away from fighting because the man is larger or appears to be stronger, but that isn’t necessarily the case. A police officer explains that you can use weapons of opportunity, anything that you might happen to have in your hand, and it can make a difference in the outcome of the attack.
