This is a shocking story where thankfully one woman’s persistence and failure to give up, turned what could have been something fatal into life-saving surgery.25 Year old Louise started experiencing pain in her abdomen. She went to the doctors, but prior to going in she did a pregnancy test just to confirm it wasn’t that. The test was negative, as were the next six the doctors made her take, after she continued suffering pain, had frequent urination and loss of appetite all symptoms of early pregnancy.
Eventually the doctors decided whether just to shut her up or get rid of her from the surgery to give her an ultrasound. What they discovered was a grade two immature teratoma, which is a rare type of ovarian tumor. Luckily the operation to remove this was successful although Louise did lose one ovary and a fallopian tube, but luckily her fertility has remained unaffected. This goes to show if your body is telling you something is wrong, you need to be persistent with the doctors and not give up, they are not always correct.
